Huge field of rape opposite our house making all our lives a misery at the moment, anyone know when they harvest it?

Dp just told me it's about the end of July! BUT the flowers should be gone in a couple/three weeks though and he says that should make things better for us all. I'm suffering too!

BTW he is a farmers son/brother etc not just a know it all!

the bad news is.... they harvest it early and one of the reasons it is so popular is that it is possible to have TWO crops in the one year Sad
you have my sympathy

Misty, get down to your local chemist coz there is a homopatheic (sp) one - Pollena - I think. It wasn't 100% but it did take the worst symptons away - itchy ears and running eyes. HTH

Oh so there's good news and bad news then! Well lets hope that stinking stuff goes soon. I've been out and bought more Piriton syrup today that I have to swig to stop the constant itch in my palate and a nasal spray. I'm like a walking tired zombie and I won't stay indoors as I love the sun so much. AAARGH!

many many many sympathies. We went on holiday next to a field of this once and I've never ever had worse hayfever in my life. The anti histamine I was taking very effectively against London grass and tree pollen didn't make the slightest impact against it. Horrendous. Hope it is gone soon.

It's our 3rd summer in this house and they've never had rape in the field b4, I guess they must be using Turnip Townsends crop rotation system!

I got hayfever for the first time last year, and now suffering my second year - and paying big time for thinking that hayfever sufferers were total wimps.

I live in an urban area, so no rape around.

I find that Clarityn works really well - symptoms (itchy, gravelly eyes) are gone within the hour.
