If you're going to a civilized part of the euro-zone I wouldn't bother and I'd just get euros out of a hole in the wall at a bank when you arrive as I find you normally get a better rate of exchange although make sure you get what you need in one or two withdrawals as your bank will charge you about £1.50-£2 for the withdrawal.

i will be camping in the middle of southern europe, far away from a hole in the wall. Will try M & always really valuable advice.

M&S do good rates and NO commission so work out quite a good deal!
Also whilst your away if you have a Nationwide card account you can get money out the cashpoints - they don't charge any fees and again give competitive rates. HAVE A LOVELY TIME

I always order through Thomas Cook website-no commission and delivered to your door....easy peasy!!

all branch post offices have a large stock of all currency and usually have a very competitive rate

I usually go to the Post Office for 100E or so, and then use the cash point when I'm there.
