Moving house - advice on area near Chandlers Ford

We might be moving to the Chandlers Ford/Romsey area with two primary school aged children. Its a big move for us, including me giving up my career so need some reassurance about the area, schools, places to live etc. We're into the outdoors so this could be a chance of a lifetime. On the other hand.....
