A baby sardine
Saw her first submarine:
She was scared and watched through a peephole.
"Oh, come, come, come,"
Said the sardine's mum
"It's only a tin full of people."

This is one of my favourites:

There are holes in the sky
Where the rain gets in
The holes are rather small
That's why the rain is thin.

I eat my peas with honey
I've done it all my life
It makes them taste quite funny
But it keeps them on the knife

My favourite:

Mary Pugh was nearly two when she went outdoors
She went out standing up she did
but came back on all fours

The moral of this story
Please meditate and pause
Never send a baby out with loosely waisted drawers!

yes it's from A Book of Milliganimals. my brother loved Spike Milligan poems (this is why I know them) and we have an ancient tape of him reciting them. my favourite is
"Today I saw a little worm
Wriggling on his belly
Perhaps he'd like to come inside
And see what's on the telly "

My all time favourite is:

Rope is thicker
But string is quicker

How brilliant is that?!

Along the same lines, jura, this was told to me by the man himself:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high over vales and hills
And there and then I came upon
My dog being sick on the daffodils!

Another fave of mine:

Bigger fleas have little fleas
Upon their backs to bite 'em
And little fleas have lesser fleas
And so on, ad infinitum

here's one I like:

I jumped in a bath of hot water
And took my teddy bear too.
It was so hot, I jumped back out
And had some teddy bear stew.

On watching children at lunch:

Fifty hairy savages, sitting down to lunch.
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, munch, munch, munch.
