can I make the Rapid White Loaf (the 2hr one) using oil instead of butter???? - and if so how much do I use?

bran Fri 19-Aug-05 13:59:58

My dh often makes it with olive oil, but I don't know how much he uses. I would guess the same weight or volume.

arrrgghhh....
just when i was beginning to get bread off my mind, you bring it up again.
i love real bread.

Bran - any chance of finding out from your DH before Tomorrow evening?

I've got enough butter left to make a loaf for tomorrow, but then nothing for Sunday

I make bread by hand using olive oil. I use 2 tbsp for 1.5lbs flour. Don't know if that's any help??!

expatinscotland Fri 19-Aug-05 15:54:28

Arrggh, I'm outta Vitamin C powder and NO ONE had it but Holland & Barrett - in the mega size for £17.99.

Guess I won't be doing wholemeal this weekend.

I haven't used vit c powder since the first loaves I made (with the Panasonic). Makes no difference, unless you like quite aerated bread. In the instruction book it tells you what each basic ingredient is for.

expatinscotland Fri 19-Aug-05 16:02:53

Cool! I'll try it w/o then. I don't mind it not being aerated so much, I just didn't want it to turn out dense as a rock.

scampadoodle Fri 19-Aug-05 16:11:59

Well, I don't mind my bread being a wee bit dense, but it's worth a try for you. You could always put in a bit of white to lighten it a bit. Worth experimenting anyway.
