I have decided too late that I want another!

Having gone back and forth on this for many years I finally decided that I wanted another child
We tried but ended in a loss and I don't think I can go through that again

I'm kicking myself that I didn't realise this and try sooner but now my age is against me

I have just started to wonder about adoption or fostering

Has anyone else felt like this?

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. However while miscarriage is more common as you get older, it's also fairly common in general - around 1 in 5 pregnancies will miscarry apparently. So I wouldn't necessarily think that just because you've had one it means your time is up. Of course you may make the personal decision that you don't want to go through that again, which is fair enough. But the odds would still be on your side that your next pregnancy is likely to be healthy.

Thanks @BertieBotts

Yes I knew miscarriages were really common. I think at my age it's 50/50 chance

But I had an ectopic and surgical removal of my tube which was god awful and apparently once you've had one not only does your fertility decline but you also have an increased chance of having another so even if I was lucky enough to conceive again I could face that which would be terrible or even if I got through that I would still have to run the gauntlet of "normal " miscarriage

@gffg google fostering in your area, I know where I live fostering and adoption has such a high profile!

Yes this is me too. Turning 43 soon and have one DD age 5. We have been trying for 7 months ... no joy.

I would say that you're not too old at 42. I had DS at 41 and we tried for another but no joy either, however we weren't in a secure position to have another. Now i know it's def too late. Although i'm pretty sure i'm still ovulating i'm too scared of loss to try. Good luck x

Thank you Boosey. I will be 43 next week. 42 doesnt seem too old but somehow 43 does. confused

Happy Birthday for next week! It feels old but I was told i was a spring chicken at that age and that it could easily still happen! It didn't but that was because we weren't properly trying due to our circs. Good luck x
