Socialising with other parents

Hello I'm having a problem socialising in my area it's town with approx 10,000 people but I moved here a few months before I was pregnant only had a job for a few months before I had to quit when I got pregnant because it was no longer safe ( care work )

I went to a small group of mums and toddlers but it was strange and they were all related or neighbours. And we're not that friendly

The only other groups I see in my area are through churches and I am not religious.

I want to socialise with other parents and want my kid to socialise but finding it difficult.

We have a soft play and a pool but I can't afford these all the time, also it's £3.50 soft play and £5 swim, and when I go to these places nobody talks to me because they go with their own friends and don't seem interested in speaking to new people.

I will happily go about by myself I am an adult but now that my son is over 2 and I don't think we will be having any more kids I just think it would be good for him to mix with kids his age.

Any suggestions would be great thanks smile

Most people who go to church groups aren't religious

Research all of the local baby groups/events (whether it's in a church or not) and plan which days you're going to visit. Get a feel for each. Some will only have parents who keep themselves to themselves and don't let newbies in, others will be very inviting. I had the same problem. Just start talking to people. Others could be thinking the same as you. Someone needs to start chatting first. Good luck OP!

Download the Mush app, it’s a great way to meet mums with similar aged babies. I made some really lovely friends that way.

It's summer, the park is free! Also church doesn't mean people are religious, in fact even on a Sunday a good percentage are there for friendship not God! Most toddler groups in church aren't at all religious

church groups are great and they're not religious as such.
