My DD (7.5 months) still does it, as do her little friends - perfectly normal afaik.

It won't harm him! It's just something he's discovered to do. My DS did it for months in his cot, I'd forgotten about it until recently as he doesn't do it anymore.

My DD now 2.5 used to do exactly this but mostly when awake, it was probably the first real physical thing she learnt to do, it was before rolling, sitting etc so prob. from about 3 months old, she just loved doing it! She is a v physical kid so he might be the same! She used to do it so hard we worried the cot would break! Entirely normal I'd say xx

Hi, thanks for everyone's posts. It's been going on for about a month now. I've seen a doctor about it but they just shrugged it off. Wish he could talk and tell me lol

Can't be sure it's exactly the same thing as DD1 is now 15, but when she was a baby she used to rhythmically lift both her legs and slam her legs down really hard over and over. It used to make us laugh as we could hear her doing this (very loudly) in her cot upstairs whilst we were downstairs. If we peeped through the door she was usually wide awake and seemed to enjoy doing it.

As a said, she's 15 now and no problems - only the usual teenager stuff!

Ps sorry I don't have any tricks to get him off to sleep. Maybe try holding him against you (up on shoulder?) till deep asleep then put in crib?

He's just learnt to do this and just wants to do it constantly! Don't worry. It'll soon pass (couple of days). My DS did exactly the same, he had a grobag on and would thump his legs up and down in the middle of the night. Just a new trick! Wait till it's rolling over they practise in bed...

Hi, I have read some of the other threads about babies thrashing their limbs about, but my baby just lifts and slams his legs down so hard in his sleep. I swaddle him tight but he still does it. I am so worried he is going to damage or injure his back or legs, the force of the slamming is scary! Its not wind, not a dirty nappy... I have no idea what it is. Has anyone else experienced this? It keeps me up all night and he is constantly waking himself up. I have also posted in the sleep section.
