Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

UniS · 24/01/2011 14:47

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

Gosh Amber, you were quick off the mark. Do mind the chicken roosting under the big round table.Don't want to disturb it as I'm hoping for an egg for tea.

:: Unis departs to go and walk a large dog she hasn't got::

Nice here Grin

I like the thought of a virtual dog - I like them, but couldn't cope with one atm.

Ooh, lovely room, thanks Unis!

Um, I think I just stepped on your egg for tea though.

This is lovely.

There was some talk that we were going to move to a polytunnel - is that one I see at the bottom of the walled garden? It looks idyllic and positively romantic in the spring sunshine. One might almost call it the .

Hi all, looks like you left the Hawaiian Islands at the same time I did.
Have I missed anything? If yes, please, someone update me.
We're home, and I have a rotten cold. JB had it last week, and in typical fashion, is almost over it, only has a cough left. I would like to take up residence in the priest hole, with a duvet and tea, if that's ok.
Will post pics later.
It's COLD here :(

Techno, yes, that is the very polytunnel in question, I believe. Grin

Survived meeting with insurers to discuss business stuff. Need a nice lie down in a darkened room now to recover from the experience.

sensory overload. I need a quiet darkened room myself

I love MN (and Amber especially). Seems my telly can be fixed for less than £60 and I'll get it back tomorrow. Zippedi-doodah.

Techno, good re tele. Was it the bit that fires it up, perchance, on the top, next to the off-switch?

I think so, Amber - at least, it was something to do with the power intake.

(Have just learned who's taking the Rainbow unit in September, when MrsGuider can't be Guider in Charge any more - EEK!)

Think I might finally have a sleeping BabyScout. Saying that, though, he had two two-hour naps today and was giving me all of the tired signs during his dinner....

What a lovely tea room. I feel completely at home, especially with the cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and the heap of muddy boots by the door.

Sorry about the chickens - they really don't housetrain!

Haven't been about due to exasperating Saturday with SmugMumOfTwoSoonToBeThree, mother of Gifted Daughter. She arrived at our house, kicked Racinghound (I heard the yelp) then let her bloody killer Doberman out into our garden for a wee and it attacked the cats, the chickens and the guinea pigs. DH managed to grab it and free teh guinea pigs, with not too much blood, but they are still very nervous. Gifted Daughter went through Wriggle's toys and stated 'They are a bit rubbish', which is true, since many of them are her own cast offs. I bit my tongue and remembered that she owns a lot of horses and loves Wriggle coming to play with them/ride, so that she can be superior about Wriggle at the same time. Playing with horses is at least £25 for 30 mins.

Sunday we spent in the polytunnel you can see at the bottom of the walled garden, planting garlic.

Mary, I'm sorry about you news. Would it help to plant a tree in the tea room orchard in memory? (We do this in RL.)

Techno, of course I want to meet you!!!!!!!!!

I just get a bit sensitive about bloody pushy mothers contacting my HT because their precious infant has not been chosen for cooking this week, as he is obviously more deserving than the other 36 in the class and thus causing trouble for me assertive parents who take an interest in their child's education.

Does Mellor do massages? I really over did it today. First day without LCT or my mum or my husband here and a To Do list a mile long. Shouldn't have tried to do it all. Ouch!

Sorry to hear about your loss, Mary.

Really ought to go to bed...

Oh hello! Not been online for about a week! All sorted now!! Phew!!

Bit of a quick visit, have done so much knitting with no computer to distract me!!

Just rushing through but, Tee, to say that Mellors does massages is the understatement of the century. Here he comes now, with his portable massage table, pile of fluffy white towels and assorted aromatherapy oils.

Hi!
Lovely!
Can anyone give me a hand with this hay bale? - I find it a little awkward to manouvre it with hooves...

What you been knitting PKM?

Tee I feel your pain, everytime I get my to do list done I have to write another with all the other jobs that came to mind whilst doing teh to do list.

Well done ye on planting you garlic. I still have mine on a to do list.... I did tidy up some rampant hydrangea and lavender today tho.Garden Waste collection tomorrow, so a good day for pruning. Maybe tomorrow for garlic.

I've taken the Tea room dog for a walk, so do try not to trip over slumbering hound in front of teh fire. What kind of cake would you like whisked up and popped in the aga?

That was my egg? oh dear. never mind. Maybe an egg less cake then? or perhaps cookies?
