How do I get rid of this guilt feeling at working during holidays

Hi
Until very recently I have worked just a couple of nights a week on rubbish money and have always been around for 9 year old ds in school holiays and been an only I have gone oujt of my way to ensure he has company by having mates around and taken them out etc.
Now I have started to work alot more hours as money has been tight and this has meant me working days as well.
But I am having trouble adjusting to not been with him so much and now the summer holidays are upon us and I am feeling bad about the idea of leaving him with my elderly parents where he will probably get bored.
It won,t be all the time I will still have a number of days were I will have his mates and take them out etc but still I am feeling bad.
I have posted this in the one child section because I am not sure if working parents make it any worse for an only or not.
I can,t help but think that children with siblings don,t notice their parents are not always there during holidays because thye just get on and play with their siblings.
Family think that I have spent the most important part of his younger years been around and he should be able to get on with it a bit now.
Still I can,t help but feel bad even just going off for one day at work.

I have an only child and was a lone parent for 8 years. I have always worked (albeit part time).

Have you thought about putting DS in childcare for a few days per week or even just one day?

If you can find a holiday club with loads of activities, he would probably have a great time and have the company of other children. He might then, appreciate the quiet time with his grandparents the rest of the week?
