Staff Member's Own Child in Room

DD1 has been attending a nursery for 2 years and we are very happy with it. DD2 has just started. In the room she is in, the room supervisor has her own child in that room. He is very clingy and wants all her attention. If she moves away from him to play with anyone else he cries until he is picked up. He has been there a long time so it is not a settling issue. It makes me slightly incomfortable as I know in that position I would find it impossible not to put my own child's needs first.
I would be grateful for any opinions and experiences. AIBU to feel the nursery should have told me of the situation in advance?

I would def not be happy, we have a child who's mother works in the nursery, and he does not do well at all when she is about, always running off to her, completly ignoring us, its not fair on him or any of the other children. Although she is no in his room, she is about alot and it is very disruptive for everyone.

I would speak to the manager if you are not happy, share your concerns so they are away, they may be able to move her out of the room??

It sometimes works...

...but sometimes is very tricky for everybody. When the other staff members tell the child off for instance.

We have this quite a lot at the nursery my boys go to - sometimes the mum's are in the same room and sometimes they aren't (at the moment, one of the staff in DS2's room has her baby in there who is 9 monthsish).

Tbh, I have never noticed a problem when I have been there - she doesn't seem to pay him more attention, I have seen other staff take him to change his nappy etc. I have also seen the ex-deputy manager, whose DS was there, tell her DS off as she would do any other child.

However, I have never noticed any of them being particularly clingy so maybe that is the difference?

If he wasn't clingy then I would be less worried.

My child attends the nursery I work in - not in the same room but sees me alot during the day. He is usually fine but since I have been pregnant he has got quite clingy and needy and sometimes cries when he sees me. I don't let it affect my work though and I don't have a problem with staff dealing with him just as they would the others, even telling him off if they need to. We have 5 mums working at the nursery and to be honest it has never been a problem - most parents find it reassuring that the people caring for their children are mums themselves
