Had our first nursery open day yesterday

And it went really well. Bit of a braggy bubble here but it's taken us over two years of blood, sweat , tears and a few wobbly marital moments to get here. Throw a twin pregnancy and two older DS's and, of course, the tragic death of one of out beautiful twins into the mix and you can imagine that it's been difficult to stay motivated at times. But we got there.

Huge apologies to hub and hunkermunker who I'd promised to invite to this open day. As it was, and as I'd anticipated, I was charging around having a few histrionic Edina type episodes and I couldn't face meeting my old and yet new pals in these circumstances. By the next open day I shall be a serene queen and ready to receive guests. I shall also make sure I look a bit more glam. I was helping out in the kitchen yesterday and, when I did get a chance to take my pinny off and mingle, a lot of the prospective parents looked a bit shocked to find out I was one of the owners.
HM imagines me as being and I wouldn't want to let her down now would I?

Fantastic! Glad it went well, Bubble (bet they were just surprised to find such a glamorous lady in the kitchen, hun).

Will meet you when everything's calmer - but definitely will!

I tell Hub often enough he's a marvel, but I might not mention it quite enough about you, Bubble - but you definitely are! I'm in awe of you, I truly am (not in a weird internet stalker hero-worshippy way, in a totally normal wow, you're one amazing lady kinda way - ok stopping now, sound far too weird )

Next month. Not sure of the date yet as we have to fit it in with staff rotas etc. But I'll definately extend an invitation to any msnet crew who may be in the area.

We have two nurseries dinny. One is in Hampton, Middx and the other (where the open day was yesterday) is in Ham, Richmond. It sounds quite grand to say we have two but TBH it turned out that way purely by chance as we'd put in offers to lease on two properties and both offers were accepted. In for a penny etc. Felt like it was the worst possible thing we could have done after Bo died and we couldn't cope with getting out of bed let alone running a business, but we have fantastic staff who rallied round and took care of everything. I can't praise them highly enough for their help during those awful first few weeks.

Thanks HM Weirdo.

OMG. Our first open day in the Richmond nursery and, at the time I should have been in the kitchen helping our chef put the finishing touched to the canapes and chilling the champagne, I was charging around at home. Breastfeeding on the run, trying to get everyone organised and hurling some make-up in the general direction of my face hoping some of it would stick. Not a good start to the day, I had been up late the night before making pakoras and lost track of the time. Will be much better prepared for next time.

I can picture her rocking backwards and forwards ,staring fixedly at something invisible in the middle distance, twirling her hair around her fingers in tight knots and singing Ring-a-Ring-O-Roses.

From what I know of HM takes more than that to get rid of her

Relax, she is one sorted girlie, can't wait to meet her.

Nah, not offended! Just composing a post that I'm fairly sure will get me into trouble, but since it's about smoking in pregnancy... I'm afraid I don't do fluffy on that subject!

Bubble, have you been spying on me?! That's uncanny!

Dinny...I'll put frogs in your dropfile ready for your return to work

Bubble, yes - south London. Work with Hunker (though am currently on mat leave). Where are you? Presuming west London-ish...

Arse end of Richmond, Surrey. Technically not London but as we're at the end of the District Line it has always felt like London to me. I'm a North London girl originally but found myself in the leafy suburbs twelve years ago, met DH to be and never left.
