Nurseries

Right OK so how much has everyone's nursery fees gone up by this year?

We have just had a letter from nursery saying that in the face of the 0.5% interest rates, and my 1% pay rise, they are putting their fees up 5% this year and we should think ourselves bloody lucky as that's less than the 'national average' increase

So I thought I'd do a little MN average poll. How much has your nursery fee gone up %wise???

From 30 to 31 quid a day.

Not a big percentage can't do maths

Dd is at nursery school rather than day nursery, and due to the credit crunch they will not be raising the fees for next year.

OP, you're not thewiltedrose are you?

If not, you may want to change your name - there was a poster called thewiltedrose who pissed everyone off with her begging.

Not because I really am that person and am pretending not to be, I should add, just because I had a MN break of 18 months and being pregnant a 2nd time fancied starting again

Ours have gone up by £2 a day or just under 6% - but I don't think they went up last year at all - dd wasn't there then as I was on maternity leave so I'm not 100%. It's always a painful moment - but I love the nursery and respect the staff - with the increased cost of food and heat etc it seems reasonable enough. I hope some will be passed on as a salary rise to the staff as well though!

Well it was supposed to be floppy - then I mistyped and thought it was sort of quaint.

Speaking of which - 'quiltedrose' is a bit like a duvet cover beloved by Thora Hird imo!

Zero.

In view of the economic climate, they've delayed the usual January increase until April I think.

PS my nursery fees went up about 5% too, but that was last September before things went really bad for everyone. Not expecting any more rises until this September.

Thora Hird, isn't she dead? (alwayshopefull, I was dying to ask too but didn't want to in people thought I really was said person and was just pretending I wasn't to see if everyone actually genuinely wanted to douse me in Vimto and feed me to a pack of ravenous 3 year olds)
