I'm confussed about nursery schools and play groups

I am confused about my entitlements regarding nursery schools.
dd1 who was 3 in June currently attends the local play group and get 6 free sessions per term, I was talking to a friend the other day who said that her child gets 15 hrs a week free at their local nursery school.
Is this where my dd should be rather than a play group?
Or does it vary from area to area?
We live in a little village so I'm not sure where the nearest nursery school is.
Who can I talk to to find out where she should be going?

each child is entitled to 5 x 2.5 sessions per week for 38 (I think) weeks of the year the term after they turn 3.

However the pre-school, nursery, playgroup only has to provide them if they have the capacity to.

At the pre-school we use the children only get 2 or 3 sessions per week until the academic year before they start school when they can then have 5 per week.

The official title is an "early years education provier" or something like that.

You need to check with your local education authority as it varies. In our area there are nurseries attached to primary school, and other independent nurseries, but not enough to cater for everyone. You can also get grants towards paying nurseries (regardless of income)

So my best bet would be to contact the local council and see where the nearest nursery is I suppose...
Thanks cargirl

speak to the playgroup and see if the number of free sessions will increase. You can claim the balance of the sessions at a different provider.
