Kids sleeping outside?

Hi, I'm a bit perplexed by a visit to a nursery I had - looking for somewhere for ds who will be 9 months old when I go back to work in December.
I had a look round a nursery that was recommeded to me by an acquaintance, it is in a good location, and has a good inspection report. The one thing putting me off is that the babies are often put to sleep in their prams, and the prams are wheeled outside for their sleep! The outside of the nursery is secure and fenced (secure entry and CCTV etc) and the prams can be seen by the baby room staff as one wall of the baby room is entirely glass, and the prams are just at the other side of the wall. But I don't like the idea of ds being 'plonked' in his pram in the cold wet winter! Am I being oversensitive - is this practice common? I haven't come across it before at other nurseries, just wondered what others thought?
Thanks!
J

Generations of babies have been put outside to sleep.
They'll be warmly wrapped up, and the fresh air will do them good.
No experience of day nurseries, but it sounds like a good idea to me.

I like it too. I always put mine to sleep outside whenever possible when they were babies. Seemed to sleep better. But probably just their cries didn't seem so loud !

They do this at dds nursery -they have a fenced area with a roof - bit like a car port really! I think its a great idea. I plonk dd in the back yard to sleep. They probably won;t do it if its actually snowing.....

My DD was put outside for all her naps whilst she still fitted compfortably in her buggy (she is now 3). What is the difference in being "put outside" somewhere safe for naps and them falling asleep in the buggy when you are out and about?

My babies always sleep outside whatever the weather. I would be very suprised if the nursery let them sleep outside in the winter as it isn't common practise in this country. It was probably because the weather is currently nice. I think its a good idea to get one of those nets toprotects from insects though.

They probably do when the weather is nice only.

Reminded me of preschools in cuba where the LOs nap on little beds in the garden, in the shade of the trees in the afternoons. And they always used to look so peaceful.

Mine went to an excellent nursery (v outdoorsy, grow their own organic veg, kept chickens and bunnies etc) and they did the outside naps. But it was optional. I chose indoors for mine, well it is Scotland!
