We lived outside of the catchment area and our DD got funding for nursery at 3yo. Just filled in a form which the nursey gave me saying how many sessions she does and hey presto!

And definitely not a mean mum.

We're Midland however (don't know if it varies area to area)

Ring the Local Education Department - they will tell you...(Tel no. in the phone book - or maybe on-line?)

What used to happen is that some local authorities would fund places from the term after a child is 3, whereas others would only fund the term after a child is 4. As far as I am aware ALL children are now entitled to funding from the term after a child is 3 so there should no longer be any problems. There are now even a very few pilot areas that provide funding from age 2.

Is your nursery manager sending the forms to the correct local authority, it should be the one where YOU live not where the nursery is located.
