Hi
This site has got ratings for every nursery, based on their last Ofsted report. Hopefully it can help you www.findmyschool.co.uk/results.aspx?cat=Nurseries&postcode=N3

I believe the old manager at my daughter's nursery (Head Start New Barnet) might be in charge of this new one in Finchley Central. If it is her (Bernie) then I have nothing but praise for her. She was a brilliant manager and I was sorry to see her go.

My friend has her 2 children in Magic in Whetstone and she is very happy with them.

My daughter goes to Early Learning Years in Finchley Central and we are really happy with it there. I would avoid Busy Bees, they have just had an awful Ofsted report. We looked round it there last year and liked it, but it seems to have changed a lot. When I read the report I couldn't believe it, it seemed like a different nursery to the one we saw. Maybe it has changed management or something..

I totally agree we went to view Busy bees in North Finchley the second I walked through the door I knew I hated it the atmosphere wasnt nice .It looked dirty & dark the assistants weren't friendly the children looked unhappy some were crying but nobody tended to them I felt so sorry for the children. When I got home I couldnt stop thinking about how horrible the nursery is.

my little girl went to early learning years a few years ago and the staff were lovely but i went back recently for my 2nd child who's 3 months now and all the staff have changed!
they also havent had an inspection for 2 years which is a long time.
i went to see the rocking horse in victoria avenue just down the road and it was so0o much nicer with a beautiful garden and the staff were so great with my little one.
they also have parent webcams which i think is a great idea.
def way better than ely - & busy bees just sounds awful!shocking inspection report.

Early Learning Years Nursery (ELY nursery) have now had their Ofsted inspection and passed. The staff are extremely warm and caring. Their manager, Sharina has been with them 6 years, and other staff have been with them since they opened.

Just adding my interest as just started looking into nursery for my dd. Any experience with the bright horizons nursery on squires lanes?

Hi, my DD is 25mths and has been going there since she was 10.5mths. We absolutely love it. They had an Ofsted inspection last year (we had already been there for a while) and got a satisfactory although all the parents are very pleased with the place. Since the inspection, they have made lots of changes to the nursery in line with what the inspection flagged up. I would really recommend it.

I was new to the area, we have our 2 at the Tinies nursery at the David Lloyd Health club. Really pleased so far - early days, but something of a makeover, new provider or something and got a good at the last Ofsted. Works for us as we are members of the gym too. Smile

I went to Ely
didnt like it at all, its not only staff that needs to be warm, the surroundings were horible. my child is not going there. I got it from my friend. her child attended there till he started school. But I can not believe the garden space, the children running around without coats, and eating with their "boggies" around their lips. I dont want that for my kid. Sorry... Still looking. Went to hendon, Sunningfields Rd, Not private owned by some big Ltd. But everything so tidy. Kids so tidy. Environment too. Very happy but e bit too far for us.

I don?t share your views about Ely nursery Loretasim. I have four children and all four went to Ely nursery (youngest sill there). I don?t have any experience of any other nurseries in Finchley but as mentioned in an earlier post, there is a warmth at Ely that flows all the way down from the owners, management and staff. I cannot recommend it enough. Unfortunately, I?m told they are full and have a waiting list till July 2011. Surely that speaks volumes in itself!

Hello Parents,
I would really like some insight into parents who currently use the Rocking Horse Nursery. My LO has secured a place after 18month on waiting list!. It's perfect location with a good reputation. After some conflict regarding start dates the perception is now not so clear with a "take it or leave it" approach!.
My concern is if I accept now my LO may be treated some how not to forget feeling bitter. If I don't accept i have potentially lost out on a pretty good opportunity for my child.
Any advice please!

Ana1234, what did you end up doing? We are also on the waiting list for rocking horse and loved it for our son when we had a look around. If you joined, how are you finding it?

Hello. I just wanted to say that I send my three year old to the BEST PreSchool in East Finchley. The staff are caring, warm and professional. We had a few really bad experiences with two other nurseries in the Barnet area and were wary to start looking again. I wish we had come to the Old Barn PreSchool first. My little one is having the best time , her confidence has grown and it is a joy to see her wake up in the morning so happy and eager to go to school...I hope this helps. Wishing you all the very best.
