If your DC nursery nurse asked if she could take pictures of your DC and keep them for personal reasons?

I would be very uneasy, and say no (and then feel guilty!). If she thought about it then she would realise that it was a dubious thing to ask.

"for personal reasons"?
Sounds very unprofessional.
What are her personal reasons?

Would depend what the personal reasons were, did she elaborate? Sounds like an odd way of phrasing it.

I have a couple of photos of form classes somewhere, but certainly not of individual students.

A friend of mine who is a parent to a 2 yr old got in touch with me about it and she'd said no but felt bad but I told her it was a good decision. She thinks nursery nurse may have wanted them of all the children just to look at or something. I as a nanny have photos of my ex charges, but thats different in a more family orientated job isn't it? I felt uneasy about the situation too when friend asked me if she'd been unreasonable.

I'd be ok with it. Call me naive but a photo of a grinning child that you have helped educate and develop would probably be a nice keepsake for nursery staff. You should see the heamistress' room at my DS' nursery school - every inch is plastered with photos of hundreds of the kids that have been through there over the years, as well as paintings and drawings that they have made for her!

Class photo that everyone has the opportunity to purchase - yes. Individual child's photo to put up on the nursery board to be eventually given to the parent or kept in the nursery's archive when it's no longer required - yes. An individual photo of an individual child for an individual nursery nurse to keep at home - no. That photo could end up anywhere, including the internet and more importantly, you don't have control on how and where it is used.

now as a mother i would say no. however when i was in a nursary i was studying at the same time and i needed photos of a child. there was one little girl who i was very fond off, and i was her favourite carer so i asked her mum. she said no. i was slightly upset as i would of liked to use her but i wasnt offended etc as she explained the same reasons. that even though she trusted me she couldnt take the risk that they could end up in the wrong hands when i handed my work in.

does she know if there is a reason for her wanting them?
