Nurseries

Nurseries in Taunton

Hello,

I am currently pregnant with my first child (so being slightly over zealous in my planning...), the plan is for me to take 6 months off work, and then my husband may take a further 3 shared parental leave.

So I am looking into nursery options from 9 months old in the Taunton area (we are moving to a village not far away and will use the train station). My husband's work hours are slightly more rigid than mine (9-5:30 in Bristol) but I am a barrister so my work schedule is completely random.

I am looking at places that will allow drop off at 7:30am and pick up around 5:45/6pm to accommodate days when I am in a trial and stuck in court for the whole day.

So far, I have seen that Taunton School and Queen School have pretty good options. Does anyone have any experience of them? Their websites note that places fill up fast and so I am wondering how far in advance I would need to apply for a place.

I have also come across Tops Day Nursery at Musgrove which looks like it could be ideal due to the flexibility in their pricing and booking practices. Does anyone have any experience of them? Also, is it only open to employees of Musgrove? I can't see any reference to limiting criteria such as employment at the hospital.

Are there any other options in Taunton that I am missing?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi There Lubelle80s,

Thanks for posting and congratulations on your inpending arrival!

We're no experts on the nursery situation in Taunton but we wanted to give this a bump for you. It may also be worth posting in Childcare or Parenting topics too.

All the best and Merry Christmas! Xmas Grin

No personal experience as sadly our house move fell through just before exchange as vendors had to pull out due to COVID. Sad But we had found a really lovely little nursery, The Folly in Ilton. It looked so much better than anything else in the area (which is otherwise small childminders or big commercial nurseries). It is not in Taunton, so depends on what location you need, but I was really pleased with them and they were super flexible and understanding about us needing to pull out at the last minute. I don't know exactly what hours they do, but we were looking for year round full day.

Hi there, which nursery are you booked into? What are your thoughts on it and do you know if they do longer days as I mentioned in my initial post?

Thanks!

Unfortunately Ilton is too far for us, we will be the opposite side of Taunton.
