NURSERIES IN N16

Can any one help?? Got sudden nursery place panic as need a nursery place for my son in January and thought I had plenty of time - obviously not! N16 being baby central means all the places I was interested in have huge waiting lists. I've tried Rainbow, Linden and Minihome as first choices can anyone recommend anywhere else? Though Coconut looks good, my son will be eight months and they don't take babies until ten months. Any help much appreciated.

Have you tried the nursery in Independent Place off Shacklewell lane? Have heard that's good. And worth just sticking your name down on a few of the lists anyway. Also towards Stamford Hill there's the new Tyseen Children's Centre. Good luck!

Bundle, what was your dd's nursery in N4? I'm in N15 but work in KX when I return and dp works about a mile from Finsbury Park tube.

Firestation on Brooke rd / Leswin Rd? Small premises, looks a bit ramshackle inside, but lovely staff and good Ofsted. The Bath House on Shacklewell Lane is popular with all the Minihome-er organic types :-)

Its definitely worth putting yourself down on waiting lists anyway. I was told there were huge waiting lists for nurseries in N16 - but 2 weeks after registering with 4 nurseries, 2 of them phoned back with places.

wow, thanks for all your responses. I don't know exactly where I will live yet, but used to live in Clapton and think I will probably base myself around there. Called the bath house and waiting for them to call back. looks lovely and much cheaper than a lot os other places. The firestation unfortunately is only open till 4.30, but I need a place until 6 o'clock

thanks again
Claudia

Hello

St Angela's Day Nursery in (Stokey side of) Finsbury Park is fabulous. When my son was there they didn't take children until 2.5, but may be worth getting in touch to see if things have changed.

It's run by nuns (tho being catholic is not obligatory) and is very small with high staff:child ratio. Most importantly, they really cherish the children they care for.

There's also a strong chilminder network in N16 if you don't want to go down the nursery route
