Nurseries

Change childcare or leave as is?

Hi all, haven't posted in a long time but am needing some advice as it's tearing me up inside.

My lo is 2 and she currently goes to a nursery which she loves. They've just put their prices up so my entire salary now pays childcare and I'm in a deficit every month.

Do I move her to a cheaper one and save on childcare costs as well as fuel as it takes me an hour extra a day to get her to and from childcare? The new childcare is attached to the school that the older kids go to but it's very busy.

I don't know whether to just accept the costs and wait for her 3 year funding in April 2021 or move her. She's happy and loves her key worker. Don't want to upset her. Would it be selfish to move her? I'd be saving about £100 a month with the move.

Thanks for reading x

Would the children at the new nursery most likely be going to the same school as her ? In long run it may be nice for her to go up with peers she already knows.

On a side note are you registered for the tax free childcare scheme that could help save you some money, for every £8 you pay the government pay £2

I think if it’s putting strain on you financially I would swap!

Providing the new nursery is a decent setting (which it sounds like it is) then definitely switch her.

Parents often worry that children will be unhappy by moving nurseries as they are settled and love their key worker/friends. What tends to happen (especially age 2) a couple of weeks after the move they forget they even went to another nursery. Its more parents that suffer anxiety when changing settings.
