My 1 year old is starting nursery end of this month and I'm just looking for any tips or advice on how to prepare him for the change? He will he going 3 times a week. He will be having x2 settling in sessions I'm wondering maybe to increase this?

Make sure he's used to being cared for by people other than you - leave him with his dad, grandparents, your friend/sister.

Take him to lots of playgroups and softplay so he's used to busy, noisy environments with lots of other children.

Can he fall asleep without you? Make sure he's not feeding to sleep and is happy to go down in a cot - ideally not in a quiet/dark room. Introduce a snuggly or comforter if you haven't already.

If you carry him around a lot at home, put him down. Encourage him to play independently with toys while you are busy doing other things, let him experience waiting a few minutes for you to finish what you're doing before you turn your attention to him. Sit on the floor next to him rather than picking him up.

I'd also encourage self-feeding as much as possible at this age too, and holding his own sippy cup to drink from.

Find out what the nursery routine is and start moving him in to it now, so he is having meals and naps at nursery times - you'll probably find they have an early lunch and into bed by midday. Afternoon tea is probably early too, 3pm/4pm so you might want to get him used to eating then and having a late supper at the time you'd usually be home from work.
