Gift for helping my DD settle in at nursery

Hi all, my DD just turned two and has just started nursery, she is only there two days a week at the moment as they don't have any more spaces. She's been there 5 weeks now but it's taking her a while to settle in and still cry's at drop off and I have been told she asks all day when is mummy coming back from work Sad DD has taken a liking to one lady in particular, she's still training and is not her key worker. I take her to at drop off, DD then follows her round all day and mentions her to me when she gets home. I had her first observation report today and every section mentions her having played with this lady. I want to get her a thank you gift but not sure what is appropriate....any suggestions?? Thanks

Just write her a thank you card. No trinkets.

Just a card with a nice message.

Just a thank you card. Maybe a box of chocolates?

Card and maybe flowers. But I don’t think it’s needed it’s her job.

A card or box of chocolates. I've been a nursery nurse in the past and wine and chocolates always went down well, but not trinkets or sentimental type stuff.

Yeah okay maybe just a card then, I will write a message and let DD have a scribble in there too....thanks for your replies. And I know it's her job but I feel like I want to acknowledge my appreciation.

I'd just get a nice card. Tbh neither of those things are at all up my street. If someone gave them to me, whilst I would really appreciate the thought, I'd probably charity shop them (or hang onto them in the back of a drawer for 5 years out of guilt before charity shopping at a later date). It's a very kind thought, but without knowing this lady's tastes you probably won't hit the mark. The nursery may also have a policy which prohibits staff from accepting gifts from parents.

I did wonder if I would even be allowed to take a gift in and I do realise these are just little pieces of tat but was more just a token but I guess a card does the same thing....I'm quite sentimental and Lee crap like this for ever

The best thing is to mention to the manager how lovely she has been and how she seems to have gone out of her way to help your dd settle, and you wanted to acknowledge that.

Please don’t waste your money on gifts
The best thing you could do is to write to the manager or head office singing this persons praise

A card is fine, but please mention it to the manager. I am a nursery nurse and it's always great if you get positive feed back from a parent via the manger

I agree, a card with a nice message is the way to go :) she’ll be chuffed
