How often does everybody get tapestry updates.
My DS has been in nursery for 7 weeks and I've only had 3 updates. My friends seem to think this is poor so I'm after some context please.

They get posted at least every other session and often multiple ones in one session. They all have to be approved by manager though so often they’ll be none for a few days and then lots of updates at once. 3 updates in 7 weeks seems very poor!

Every other session or so. Probably 1-2 a week I'd say (he goes three days a week). Was a lot more when he first started though xx

My DS’s nursery doesn’t do them very often. Maybe 2-3 a month. I’d like more but I understand their reasoning which is that they don’t want to be sticking iPads in the children’s faces constantly taking photos and videos.

It entirely depends. It's meant to track progress and development (not really as a tool for parents to enjoy, per se, which is how we like to use it), so it's more about making sure the record is there in the long term. At nursery, sometimes it was weekly, but we could go a month or more without an update until someone had time to put them in and then we'd get 20 new ones. Frankly, that was fine for me. I was paying them to look after my dc, not to be stuck in front of a screen ignoring them. It got updated when someone had the time to sit down and go through it all. It can be quite labourious.

I used to get updates maybe a few times a month when my son was in nursery. I think there’s far too much paperwork and tracking to do, I’d rather staff were present with the children.

Probably one every few weeks here. I'd rather the grown ups were busy looking after & playing with DS than taking photos of him all the time though!

My twins go to nursery two days a week, and generally the following Monday they update it to show what they had done the previous week

Generally, one observation per week if a child attends for 15 hours. Might be more if something really important has been seen, but one a week as a general rule. (Two if the child is in for 30 hours per week).
