Nursery misusing LA funding - Please help!

Hi all, our child has an EHCP and their nursery receives funding as per the decision on the plan. We know only a small portion of the money has been spent on our child and the rest on general expenses and we have been lied to about what the money was spent on. We have evidence to back all of this up. I'd like to ask for help with ideas on what options we have - or call on any experience people have with this please! Of course we wish our child to have the funding used on them based on their needs, not to line the wallets of the nursery... Thankyou.

If you believe funding is being misused you need to contact your local authority. Out of interest, what do you class as ‘general expenses’ and what evidence do you have? What does the EHCP say they have to provide and are they doing that?

What was the money spent on?

You call the Sen team who wrote the ehcp and explain your concerns to them. They can investigate and make sure it's being allocated appropriately.

Ok so what do you consider to be 'lining the wallets of the nursery'? Staff salary? Insurance? Pensions? Rent? Electricity? Heating? Staff training? Food? Materials? Because even a child with SEN requires all of the above to be paid on a monthly basis. Not all the money will go specifically to your child. I do sincerely hope that you are taking all these into consideration.

If so, then speak to the nursery manager first, together with their SENDCO, then the children services at your local council. If there is still a problem then you can contact Ofsted to complain on 0300 123 1231
