Ofsted did not keep my child safe from harm

Ofsted failed to keep my child safe. Here’s my story please read for the benefit of your child’s safety. My child had a number of injuries in a very short space of time at her nursery. Amongst other cruel taunts that my child had suffered at the hands of these moronic nursery staff, they lied about the injuries and never recorded them.
Evidence of this was given to ofsted and this was their response. They did not deem it necessary to carry out an inspection as they had recently done one, they said there was “no value in it”, because my child had not received “medical attention”. If your child attends this nursery Ofsted have kept it from you, as there is no mention of my complaint on their website. I was told by ofsteds complaints team that it is not their job to investigate whether the nursery had lied about these allegations (this I found alarming – not investigate injuries to a child).
Finally the police got to the truth that the nursery staff had lied about knowledge of injuries and lack of record keeping, as well as uncovering the lies from the nursery’s own internal investigation. In my opinion Ofsted did not keep my child safe and if your child attends this nursery they haven’t kept your child safe either. Social services were aware and did nothing (not surprising, by the reports in the media). Ofsted’s safeguarding policy meant nothing, just words on paper as far as my child was concerned. Ofsted did not care about what happened to my child that was apparent, so parents I say don’t let your child become a statistic go higher complain to your local MP, hey why not write to Tereasa May, at least someone may audit her work so us hard working parents voices might be heard. Also remember the staff in these nurseries are strangers looking after your child and they are not governed by anyone as I have found out through this horrendous ordeal my child and family have been through! THIS POST IS FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY.

Ofsted did not fail

The nursery failed.

What have the police and social care done?

TL:dr it all but it seems like it's your side of something that happened, it's not really any help to anyone else and by definition is only part of the story.

I'm not sure what it acheives

Op. I'm sure you are very traumatised but yr post tells nothing of any substance. We have no idea which nursery it is or what injuries etc.

Pointless thread without vital info

Ofsted do investigate complaints - but not as a kind of judge about an individual incident.

So they might recommend staff need retraining on certain aspects (which is unsatisfactory from the parents POV, because it sounds so woolly). No, not all complaints and their outcomes go on a settings record. No I parent will ever know how many issues are raised formally with Ofsted.

All nursery staff need to have a DBS check and all nurseries have rigorous check systems in place. They might have failed but the people who have caused abuse with never work in nurseries again, or in any role that needs a DBS check.

I'm sorry for what you and your child have gone through.

Maverick
There is no evidence that the staff have abused any children
That's why this sort of complaint isn't published by ofsted
Imagine the damage done to a business or a career by unfounded allegations of abuse
Nothing the op has said suggests her child was abused by nursery staff
If there was any indication of that then ofsted would clisevggemvdown immediately and the police would be investigating

I also find it absurd that OFSTED don’t investigate some safeguarding incidents. Especially under the premise it’s “isolated”.

My ds had a knife pulled on him in a classroom. This child had been bullying my ds and schools response was suggest a managed move Hmm

When ds asked advice on taking his own life the school didn’t provide support and changed their story twice.

So this isolated incident isn’t worth investigating.

Then everyone’s up in arms when the next one results in hospital treatment or death Angry

I will add ofsted took a copy of original email saying ds had knife pulled on him - and it’ll come up on next inspection Hmm

I'm sorry your child has been hurt but you don't name the nursery and I can't see what anyone here can gain from this?

I really don't get what you want the school to do?

Ofsted haven't failed your child, the nursery have! It's not ofsteds job to investigate injuries it's their job to judge a learning institute based on their teachings etc. If there isn't a complaint of that just if the injuries there is nothing they can do and nothing they can write on their website. I feel maybe you OP are hurt and broken (quite rightly so at what Evers happened to your poor child) and you're lashing out at the services that you know are connected to your child rather than just focusing on the main thing... the nursery. Take it further, if possible, with the police and if nothing is being done go to the papers and let your voice be heard ABOUT THE NURSERY! Not about ofsted that have their hands tied and wouldn't be able to help anyway!
I hope you're able to come to some sort of ending with this situation soon xx

Green is expect the school to punish the child who killed the knife - not just say because the victim is too anxious to attend school they should move. 1 got 2 days at home and returned to familiar surroundings and peer group. 1 has to mote schools miles away despite having autism and struggling with change and social inclusion.

Pulled the knife Bloody auto correct!

you explained on another thread I think, that the managed move was suggested for the victim, and I had assumed it was suggested for the perpetrator

If you think your child was deliberately injured ten you need to go to the police.
