Nursery drop off times

My daughter has been attending nursery for the last 18 months. Her hours are 7.30 to 17.30 three days a week. I have always dropped her off from 7.25 onwards so that I can hand over to the staff & get her settled before I leave at 7.30. She is normally collected by 16.30.

I have been informed that she is now not allowed into the premises until after 7.30. Am I wrong to think this is yet another way for nursery to take less responsibility as they are responsible from 7.30 not 7.35 when I leave?

Our Nursery it’s a staff one, but run by a big national chain, are quite happy for us to be early - not that we ever are

You're definitely in the wrong here! My children's nursery opens at 7.30. I get there at 7.30. Do you rock up at Sainsbury's and get pissed off that they haven't opened early so you can do your shopping and be ready to pay at opening time too? Apologise gracefully and start dropping her off on time.

Why not change her hours 7:15 to 17:15 if you need to rush in the mornings and she is collected early anyway.

If they don’t open until 7.30 they aren’t insured to take her in before that. And if they open before 7.30 they probably don’t have the correct amount of staff in place to be in the correct ratio before your daughter is contracted to arrive. They could be closed down by OFSTED for being out of the legislated ratio.

They don’t start until 7:30, you should wait until that time. They probably have a lot to do before all the kids arrive and maybe team meetings/briefings etc.

What are you doing for five minutes? "Hello, here's child" "Bye bye child!", then you're out the door! I know some kids do need more than that, but it's not for the nursery to have to let you do that on their premises before they're even open I'm afraid.

We’ve had a message about this at DS Nursery (not me, I always drop on time or late ) it’s to do with having the right ratio of staff to children, they’ll have their staff rota organised around the times you’re contracted too. You may only see it as 5 minuets but it makes a difference to them. As someone else said if you’re collecting Early can you drop off earlier? Otherwise you’ll have to talk to your work about moving your start time.

Why do a 5 minute drop off anyway? We just go in, put his coat on the peg, I tell his keyworker how he's slept and I give him a kiss goodbye. What else is there to do

Legally they are responsible from the time she enters the nursery, and if that time is before the nursery opens and rhevataff actuallyvstart work, then there could be legal implications ion the event of an accident or incident
The insurance company may not cover them if they are providing care outside of their normal hours
