Vouchers & 30 hours

Hi does anyone know if you can have both?

Trying to fill out the application (late I know, our nursery only told us today we could!) And it asks if we get vouchers then says 'depending on the option you choose you will have to leave your scheme within 3 months'

Just wondered if anyone knew.

Thanks!

You usually can but the voucher schemes are being replaced with the gov tax free childcare scheme. If you haven't already joined and deposited into the voucher scheme I don't think you can now? But you can use both the vouchers and the 30 hours together.

Thanks we've been on vouchers for years...it's the wording of that bit of the sign up form which has thrown me as sounds like we have to leave....

Has anybody filled out the 30 hours form who also uses vouchers?

As far as I'm aware you can still use vouchers at the same time as receiving the 30 hours (also confirms this on government website)

It was a few months ago I completed the form but it is for getting the new tax free thing and the 30 hours. You need to make sure you select just the 30 hours option not the tax free bit

If you sign up for the new tax free scheme then you have to leave the voucher scheme. Hope that makes sense.

Once you've got the 30 hours you have to go back every 3 months I think for them to check your still entitled

Thanks stickmangate do you have any idea how we select just the 30 hours? It doesn't seem to be giving us any choice, is just automatically going through one route...

You can use the vouchers with 30 hours
Lots of parents at my nursery are doing so
You can also use tax free childcare with the 30 hours
You can't use tax free and vouchers together

Sorry I can't remember. Have you set up your goverment hate way account I think I then entered all the wage Id details for me and dp once that info was in then it told
Me how much tax free we qualified for and from there selected the 30 hours.

I remember it long winded

My understanding is the voucher scheme is being phased out and will be replaced entirely with the taxfree childcare at some point in the future. I suspect that's what that means. You can use vouchers, but there will be a point when you'll need to switch to taxfree childcare. The application I believe is for both (anticipating the future switch so they don't need to make you apply again), but you don't need to use taxfree childcare. Just don't log into the account and put any money into it. You may be eligible, but you don't have to use it. The two programmes are completely separate.
