Nurseries

£15 per week price hike - is this normal?

That amount in one go seems huge to me and is going to put us in big financial difficulty.

It's come out of the blue, in response to the 15 hours free childcare. But kind of defeats the point of having it as now not getting a full 15 hours worth free, essentially!

Has anyone else had similar issues? Really beginning to feel that its not financially viable to keep working...

I suppose it depends on how much you are paying already?
If you are doing 2 afternoons only, then it sounds like a BIG hike, but if you are using 50 hours a week, then, proportionately, it's not such a big jump, when you consider all the additional costs Nurseries have had to take on board over the last year or two.
Also depends on market forces, etc, in terms of if they realised they were undercharging, and so forth.

The nursery industry is on proper crisis and many will close or not offer the 30 hours funding as costs increase but income will be fixed as the government is freezing the funding rate
Nurseries will need to increase fees to remain viable, minimum wage increases and the pension law are costs that have to come from somewhere
This may explain a bit
