Anyone used kiddi caru Harlow for a baby, in this case my 8 months old granddaughter, she's the only baby all the rest are toddlers and mobile. Couple of incidents, fell and banged her head on second day and taken outside and sat on grass with no coat in February, and this has got an great ofsted report, maybe ok for toddlers but seems badly lacking with a baby. Also at a 1-3 ratio you can't oversee two toddlers and a baby which is prob why she was dumped on the grass when they had outside play, when collected had wet trousers from the grass. Would appreciate any feedback

The 1-3 ratio is for children under 2 years of age and is applied to hundreds of baby rooms across the country
You are never going to get a 1-1 unless you keep them at home or employ a nanny
Babies do have accidents, it gets even worse when they start walking.
Going outside is essential for children but you are right, they need a coat on in February and the wet trousers should have been changed for dry ones

I think op meant 1-3 is ok if they're all the same age, but in this case 2 were toddlers.

It is possible to care for mixed ages effectively. I do it all the time.

Talk to the nursery and if you're not happy move.

Thank you for your comments and I wasn't suggesting 1-1 care just more care and I know this is the accepted ratio. I don't think a baby should sit on cold soaking wet grass in February, not only minus a coat but the wet soaked into her trousers, I certainly wouldn't fancy it myself.

Depends what you class as a toddler

Some babies at 8 months could toddle about

Alot of baby rooms are 0-2

Also how do you know she had no coat on?

Was she sent without one? If so most nurseries will have spares. Or has someone actually seen her?

Her trousers should have been changed after outdoor play of wet. Does she take a change of clothes? Also are you sure they were wet from the grass? Is there any water play in the room?

To answer the above, she was on a trial day as not yet started full time, when her mum collected her she was outside minus a coat which apparently 'they couldn't find' but still took the decision to plonk her outside in February without one, she had arrived with a coat so who knows why it couldn't be found, yes she was wet from sitting on wet grass, and no I wouldn't sit a baby straight on wet grass in winter coat or no coat, would you fancy sitting on cold wet ground and getting soaked trousers.

Ah I see she was actually seen with no coat sitting on the wet grass, obviously this is bad practice and it's shocking that the nursery don't see this as an issue. Every nursery I know keeps spare coats etc. As for plonking her on wet grass can she crawl?

No she's not crawling yet, a friend knows someone who runs a London nursery and she was appalled she was not on a waterproof sheet and properly clothed. She's not my child so I'm slightly hampered in what I can do but if there are any more incidents I will take it to a higher level, you are leaving your child in their care, paying for that care and expect them to be looked after properly.
