Nurseries

What the heck?!

My baby naps a lot at home - around 3 hours a day and is super easy to put down. However at nursery she pretty much refuses to sleep at all - they are often getting 1/2 hour a day out of her.

They've told me they've tried everything and she looks exhausted but she just won't sleep and when she does she wakes up after 1/2 hour. This is such a contrast to her marathon 2 hour sleeps at home.

I'm not sure what to do - will it harm her not sleeping? She does look exhausted and is temperamental in the evenings but she eats fine and seems happy there generally. I'm just worried she'll get so exhausted she'll make herself ill.....

How long has she been going to nursery? She might still be settling in and will sleep more when she gets used to it.

It's normal.

When they go to nursery everything is new and there is alot of things going on and new things to explore.

Aslong as she is happy that's the main thing, in time she wiki more than likely start napping for longer

My DD is the same. She naps lots more at home. She loves it at nursery and doesn't want to miss out. I just make sure she goes to bed ASAP on those days and often skip bath

Thanks all that's reassuring. She's been going about 8 weeks but her sleeping there has actually regressed!

I think it's a difficult time for her at the moment as she's teething her top teeth and trying to walk and talk and she's a bit of a frustrated mess!

I could have written your post.

15 month only DS has been at nursery for 5 weeks now, he's only doing 2/3 days a week, but will just not nap. The nursery nurses keep telling me he manages to go to sleep but then is awake after 15 minutes. He usually has 2-3 hours at home! He is absolutely exhausted when he gets home and as you can imagine has a meltdown in the evenings. I really hope he starts napping at nursery I do too find it worrying Confused

Well she's improved a bit. Did 30 mins then 50 mins today which is just about enough to see her through!
