Hi,

Does anyone have any good recommendations? I am just starting my search and not sure where to begin.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Heidi214! My daughter goes to Green Shoots nursery close to Oval station. She is leaving in September to go to school but has been there since 12.5 months old and we have all been very happy with it - dreading her last day! I've got some more nurseries in Kennington and Oval listed on the Mumsnet site for Lambeth: local.mumsnet.com/lambeth/nurseries

We personally found it helpful to visit as many as you have time to as all feel so different. You don't say how old your little one is but do check on age ranges - we went to one and hadn't realised they didn't take under 2's so it was a bit of a wasted visit! Once we had seen a few we worked out what would suit our daughter best but couldn't have done this without seeing a few places.

Very best of luck with your search - do report on how you get on!

Many thanks for all the advice! It's my first child and so I am planning ahead for return to work care.

It's tricky but I am sure you will know when you've found the right place for you. I forgot to say that the other thing to look for is daily opening and closing times but also the number of weeks they are closed. For example, my daughter's nursery is closed for one week at Easter, a week at Christmas and two weeks in August. Some have more closure than this, and some less. Good luck!

Hi

My daughter attends the James lame nursery on tyres terrace. It's a lovely nursery. Very small. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds! It's honestly like a home away from. The staff genuinely care and are always warm and welcoming. My daughter was previously going to another nursery but it just felt so unfriendly. And can I also mention the price!!!! It's the cheapest for miles. My daughter is flourishing at James Kane. Can't recommend it enough. There is also the popular purple joy nursery (previously named Lambeth walk nursery) I see many little ones going there and they seem happy. I felt it was a bit large for my little one though. There is also the pelican nursery (which my daughter previously attended) was nice enough I just didn't get that "feeling" from there. They also seperate the under and over twos which I thought hindered learning.

Good luck with your search (try James Kane)
