Nursery want to change my child's setting? am I being over protective?

So my daughter has just turned 3. She att ends nursery for 2 full days a week. As it is the summer holidays her nursery has been very quiet with only a few children attending as most are on holiday. Fridays are very quiet and my daughter has been the only child there on Friday afternoons from 4pm for the last few weeks.

I've just been told that tomorrow (Friday) the other children are leaving at 3pm for various reasons. I collect my daughter at 5.45pm. They have advised that they want to take my daughter to their other setting at 3pm as she will be the only child at her usual setting.

My husband collected her and felt uneasy with giving permission for them to do this. The other nursery is 1/2 a mile away, we've never been there before, my daughter doesn't know any of the children there and will not know any of the nursery workers there. Basically they are going to drop her off there and then leaving. So she won't know any body.

They want permission when I drop her off tomorrow to take her to the other nursery. In all honesty I'm not entirely comfortable with this but don't know if I'm over reacting.

Any advice on how other mummy's would feel if this was your child would be greatly appreciated

I would say no as your contract is with that nursery & it's not your problem if they want to close early.

Are they definitely not going to be sending a member of staff with her? You could always agree on the condition that her key worker or other well-known member of staff goes with her.

It's very short notice so I think you would be well within your rights to refuse if you think it would cause your DD anxiety.

She'll be fine, lots of new toys and new friends to make for what is a reasonably short period of time. Plus you can always call this favour back in when you are running late.

Thank you for your replies. I'm torn with idea. I think it would be good for her to mingle with new children as she is shy around new people. Especially with no one she knows. Hubby asked if key worker or other worker was going and told no, they would just drop her off.

we've never been there before, I have no idea what its like there and I'm expected to leave her there. A bit unnerving as I have no idea where I'm sending her.

I think it will become regular for next few weeks as they have commented about her being by herself for the last hour for the past few weeks.

Decisions decisions.....

I think it would be fine if a familiar member of staff goes with her, at least on the first occasion. I wouldn't agree to her just being dropped off with strangers.

What did you decide in the end baloo?

Oops forgot to post back. I decided to stick with my gut feeling and declined the moving to the other nursery for the afternoon. DD had the best day she had ever had at nursery and didn't want to come home. She loved having run of the place to herself
