Dd already at nursery. Do I need to fill in a form for the free hours or anything like that or do I get it automatically?

When is/was he 3 ? You will have to sign a form which nursery would provide.

I take it you mean for 3 year olds?

Speak to the nursery they will usually deduct from your bill. You may have to sign a form they have

With our nursery, the term the child becomes eligible (the term after their 3rd birthday) they asked for DS's birth certificate and the value of the 15 hrs was reduced from our bill.

Thanks. Our nursery deducts the money but was just wondering if I need to ask them for anything to sign.

Do you know how much the reduction is?

It will depend on how they work it out, how much the LA pays them, how much there fees are

It should not depend how much their fees are. You should receive 15 hours absolutely free. The nursery is not allowed to charge top up fees, whilst simply deducting the amount they receive from the local authority. This is absolutely against the terms and conditions of them offering the 15 hours funding.

However, to answer your question... At the start of the term after your child is 3, you should be asked to complete and sign a funding form which the nursery will return to the local authority.

Agreed Littlefish, but if OP is doing more than 15 hrs, she will need to know their fees for the 'other' hours.

Which Is what I ment

If her child does a full day say for £35

And they class her free hours as 9-12 so will have to pay hourly from 7-9 then 12-1 and then an afternoon session

And yes it is a silly way for them to work it put but they are allowed to do it like that

Also if her free session covers a meal time the setting may charge for food

Sorry to hijack thread but I have a question about it too - DS is 3 on 3rd Jan. Does anyone know if this means he will qualify for free funding this term or after Easter?

It will be Easter

After Easter. I speak as the frustrated mother of a child born the first week of September.
