keeping child off nursery/childminder

how long is a child supposed to stay off nursery or childminder if they have chickenpox? tia

Check locally, but at least till all the spots have crusted over.

Having said that, not all the spots will crust - some are tiny, remain tiny, and just fade away.

Then you get the almighty 5p-piece ones, which tend to crust within a couple of days of appearing.

I'm a real expert on this having been through this 3 weeks ago with ds . . . so the above is our experience only!

DD only stayed home 3 days (weekend in between though). she went back when they had all crusted over.

it is usually 5 days after the last spot crusted over. but you need to see the exclusion policy as the nursery may have a different exclusion period.
