The nursery I went to see today said that there is the possibility of a term-time only contract (DH is a teacher). Obviously, from a financial point of view, this is a huge bonus, but I'm worried about it being difficult for my DS to settle in again after each holiday. We probably wouldn't take him out for half terms, but may do for Easter, Christmas and the summer holiday. Any term time only workers out there who have done this that can offer any advice? Are we better off seeing if we can reduce the number of hours during the holidays so DS doesn't forget about nursery completely? Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated!
My DH is a teacher and we negotiated it down to one day a week at nursery during school holidays, including the summer holiday. This seemed to work well for DS and DH. Keeping the one day a week meant DS really looked forward to a day with his friends and didn't have to re-settle. DH also got a lot of his paperwork done during that day.
My DS has been with a CM since 4.5months. He has DH's long independent school holidays off but re-settling has never been a problem. By the end of this summer holiday he was begging to go his CMs we must be really boring parents.
Obviously you can't generalise from child to child but it definitely works for DS.
