We are a team of researchers from University College London and the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families and we are trying to learn more about young children's reactions to emotion-eliciting situations, and how we can best help them to develop skills to calm down when they need to.

We are looking for children aged 7-10 years to participate in an hour-long experiment, during which they will carry out a mildly stressful school-like task, such as writing a test. We will then use this experience to help them learn positive strategies they can use to cope with similar situations they may encounter in their day-to-day lives.

The experiment will take place in central London. Children will receive a free handbook with helpful tips and strategies they can use to feel better when they are sad, stressed or angry, and a £15 Amazon voucher. We will also reimburse travel costs up to £20 for a visit to the study site.

The study has been approved by the UCL Research Ethics Committee (Project ID number: 3923/005).
