Hi guys!!

Really hoping you can help as I am really struggling! I have a 3 year old who starts school next year, we have recently put our house on the market, looking for somewhere else to live! We are moving from Kingston and thinking about Maidenhead. Please could you advise what areas are nice and why?? We are looking there because it seems like we get more for our money and isnt more then 30 mins away from Hounslow ! If you wouldn't recommend Maidenhead pls could you advise where you would. Ideally we would like somewhere that isn't too built up, has great schools and is a nice neighbourhood! Thanks in advance for the advice, it is greatly appreciated xxx

I used to work in Maidenhead but haven’t lived there. What surprised me was that although it’s a reasonably affluent area in general, the town centre is absolutely grim, all Poundlands and charity shops. Just movec5 or 6 miles further out to Marlow which is much nicer, lots of nice shops and restaurants, a great park, riverside and country walks and rides and catchment for excellent grammar schools.

Hello. We lived in Maidenhead for around 40years. Like most places there are nice and not so nice areas. I agree the town has become grim but the surrounding countryside in quite nice. Wanting to be in Hounslow within 30 mins will present you with a problem if you want the nicer areas and of course they are more expensive. Have a drive around: Pinkneys Green, Littlewick Green village, Cookham, Cookham Dean, Bray, Marlow, I think Henley will be too far out for you (lovely villages out that way, though), Windsor might work for your but be careful just where as it's under the flight path + street parking in most areas of the town but quite a few nice roads and quite good shops.

We have now moved away and much prefer our new area. Good luck.

Maidenhead's centre has deteriorated over the years
Look carefully at schools
What is your budget?

PS: The road between the river bridge on the A4 and Cookham + the roads in that general area are probably among the better ones.
