What age (as a guide) should you consider potty training?

Is there an age that you think is too young? My ds has just turned 2 and has been in pants with the childminder for the last few weeks. Trouble is, when he's back with us, he doesn't seem to be so keen.

i would say before 18 months IS too young...

anywhen between 18 months and 3 1/2 depending on the child!

Girls often slightly earlier than boys (tho i know of a couple of boys reliably potty trained BEFORE their 2nd birthday (and i know of more still in full time nappies at 3 1/2!)

Very much dependent on the child. Look out for signs that say he is ready. Before 18 months is uaually classed as too young as the child's bladder isn't developed enough to hold wee in for any length of time.

I found that by waiting until DD shown me very clear signs that she ready, and by following her lead, potty training was over with within days of starting. By day 3 DD was dry.
