We have 'Now 73' and it has 'Candy' on it whihc i think is wonderful (much to dc's disgust!).
Tesco have a good offer on his cd 'sunny side up' whihc inculdes this track. I've never heard any of his other stuf, would youi sauy that 'Candy' is typical or is it a one off and is his usual stuff different?
Thanks

Agree with fishie. Worth buying the CD for the picture inside. What a beautiful man.
He sometimes sings like an old man with no teeth but it is part of the charm.

If only he would sing in his normal voice and not put on a drunk old man voice!

I always think the test for these folk who americanise their voice would be to sing happy birthday to a 5 year old. THAT would be their normal voice!

Why HAS he changed his voice like that? I like Candy too, but there was nothing wrong with his 'real' voice?! It sounds pretentious, like he's trying to be Dylan or something.

Every track on Sunny Side Up is different. But a real, feel-good listen.

I would agree - every track is different. I wouldn't say that either of the singles from the ablum are typical though. Can you have a listen to some of them on Youtube first?

I really like it but I would agree he does sound more Scottish now than he did on the first album.

I was listening to his 'Tracks of my Years' on Ken Bruce last week (I know, I know but I am old) and it was very clear where his influences come from. Not stuff I have ever heard of before like old, obscure reggae and soul tracks but he does sound like he is copying them on the Sunny Side Up album

I saw the name and swooned my way in

Both his albums are fab IMHO! These Streets is very different from Sunny Side Up and Sunny Side Up is an album of two halves. His voice is amazing, there are some tracks that remind me of Bob Dylan and some that remind me of Otis Redding.

I highly recommend them both

He's touring too.

I think I might sell a kidney if I could have an afternoon under a duvet with this boy man. My secret passion. Not so secret

I wish he'd stand up when he sings though and desist with the bending-over-eyes-closed silliness.

His family have a great fish and chip shop, thought I would add that in, not that it is particularly relevent

seb, that bit is most important I'd never marry him without it
