...we're too embarrassingly old.

I don't care though.

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:32:39

Oh me - I love them even though I'm probably old enough to be their mum!

snigger Thu 18-Sep-08 22:33:31

I have just alienated my DSD forever, after twelve years of ardent effort, by singing along to Sex On Fire with the car window down. blush

36, old enough to know better, and proud !

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:40:35

I haven't heard the new album yet though - is it any good? I read a review of it which made them sound a bit worryingly bombastic and kind of stadium rock hmm - say it ain't so, someone!

WilfSell Thu 18-Sep-08 22:48:49

I am going to go out and buy it this very weekend SSB. I like a bit of stadium rock. grin

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:49:44

Well, I look forward to your review then WilfSell!

iLoveIceCream Thu 18-Sep-08 22:51:18

My dad is their biggest fan - lol you're never too old. I dont think their new album is out yet, only on pre-release

WilfSell Thu 18-Sep-08 22:52:59

<crushed and disappointed>

Anyone in the music biz can send me a burned copy?

Come on, it was worth a try? Whiley must MN, no? Or does she hate them?

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 22:53:51

I thought I'd be really into them.
But CD i bought was a fucking racket.
Must try again.
I must have been in a vile mood.

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:55:19

Which one is that, Moondog?

There is a very Pixies-esque track on the last album which could justifiably be described as a racket. Fine if you like the Pixies (as I do).

iLoveIceCream Thu 18-Sep-08 22:56:44

u must be able to import it from america as my dad got a copy from a lad he works with - unfortunately it jumps the whole way through, i was gutted!!!

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 22:57:23

Because of the times

I like the Pixies too though.

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:58:47

Ooh, I recommend you persevere, moondog. 'Tis fantastic. Honest, guv.

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 22:59:21

Alright,will give it another whirl.

I am very into blasting Souther rock anyway.

WilfSell Thu 18-Sep-08 23:00:34

<stalking resumed...>

a telegraph reading, Toryish, Phase 8 wearing, Dickenson loving, Welshish, radical BFing...

...Pixies lover.

God, you rock.

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 23:05:52

Why thank you!

Top band ever is/was Creedence Clearwater though. I reckon 'Fortunate Son' (slagging off sons of politicians who draft dodged in 60s) is poss. in my top 10.
I ran my best ever 5km in gym to this today.

SixSpotBurnet Thu 18-Sep-08 23:07:31

Oh, I love that song - I have it on my iPod!

(I'm an Irish, Guardian-reading, Coast-wearing, Roth-reading feminist who rates the Pixies, just in case you're interested grin.)

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 23:10:11

I don't know much about Coast...
Ireland v nice last summer though.
I career through hills full of sheeps, air punching and yowling to that.
I grew up on it. My parents were/are huge CCR fans.

piratecat Thu 18-Sep-08 23:14:08

ah they are so yummy, i went to see them in 2005, at the ripe old age of 36!!!

AstroPup Thu 18-Sep-08 23:14:46

Theyre bloody brilliant.
I said to someone the other day how fantastic the single is (probably my song of the year so far) and he said "oh, whats it called?"
"its called.... um, yeah im not too sure" i couldnt bring myse;f to say 'sex is on fire' blush

piratecat Thu 18-Sep-08 23:26:18

the sex song

AstroPup Thu 18-Sep-08 23:49:54

Oh <drooooool> @ that song...
and at his voice.
and at him in general really.
And at 1 or 2 of the others while i'm at it, I suppose!

piratecat Thu 18-Sep-08 23:51:52

imagine boxing day ruond at their house!!

Raahh Fri 19-Sep-08 18:01:37

They SOUND older than they look though, don't they?? ( justifies crush to self grin)

southeastastra Fri 19-Sep-08 18:03:48

i went to see them moondog and thought they sounded like a racket too, don't mind some o f the songs but they're not a stadium band and they're really for blokes wink
