I always had a kind of love-hate thing with The Jam: most of the people who liked them were wankers but they had some very fine songs. I still want this played at my funeral as a final fuck-you.
Oh and I did love watching the Bitterest Pill video again though it makes me giggle more than it used to (Take your chewing gum out before you kiss her, Weller! No wonder she chucked you for your bass player!)

Ooh, I was a huge Jam fan.

About a year ago I was flying back from Tokyo and was sitting in the Virgin lounge somewhat tired and hungover with some Style Council on my ipod and I opened my eyes and Paul Weller was sitting directly opposite me.

I did a huge jump because I thought in my somewhat befuddled state that I had sort of imagined him into being there.

He has very dodgy hair - it sort of looks like he cuts and dyes it himself.

anchovy that is a very cool story, and yes i must agree his hair is a bloody eyesore. those long bits just hanging down, look rubbish. He needs a nice crop.

Saw Paul Weller recently at a school concert as my DS is in the same year as his daughter. He's got a lovely full head of (grey) hair, is slim and fit-looking but with very bad sunburn!

I had to keep nonchalently wandering to the loo during the flight just to walk past him (was in Virgin Upper, so quite small comaprtment) I also hung winsomely round the bar area on the plane.

He probably just saw a hungover 40+ year old who he assumed had a weak bladder!

Oh, he was always a runty little ferret. Bruce Foxton was the one I would have not exactly kicked out of bed for eating biscuits.

There's a biography of him out, if you really love him .

I actually liked more of his Style Council than his Jam stuff, but I'm not known for my finger-on-the-pulse musical tastes.

Actually, the hair is awful, isn't it? I think I just got excited because he wasn't bald!

lol janni!

I might delve i nto that book. I have a few jam ones, I really was a die hard mod, scooter and all!!

I followed his solo career for about 3 albums, then after that I though it really all started to sound the same.

Ah!

His new album is quite good so far.
Why did I used to fancy him? Oh yeah, he was cool. Now, I'm not so sure.

I love the Jam, I saw them live twice, brilliant band

I love, love, love the Jam and have all their albums which I never play because they are lps and my turntable is gathering dust in a cupboard [old gimmer emoticon]
However, Paul W is allegedly the biggest wanker in the music business - which is saying a lot. A famously nasty bit of work. I also find it hilarious that the man who wrote Eton Rifles sends his kids to private schools because - to paraphrase the quote - he didn't want his kids turning into chavs.
But you can't let that detract from the music - aaah, reverie, town called malice, ooh, ooh, yeah - nowire reminisces about snogs at the youth club disco with boys in doc martens
