I just can't wait, feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

BornToRun Mon 15-Sep-08 19:38:44

Well I'm blooming excited even though it appears no one else is going!

moondog Mon 15-Sep-08 19:40:00

I'm leaving the country. wink
Will thedy do Killing Moon d'ya think? That's a cracker.

janeite Mon 15-Sep-08 19:46:20

Oh my goodness; I had no idea they were still touring. Is Ian McCulloch still with them?

The Killing Moon is indeed a cracker, Moondog. I also really like "Bring On The Dancing Horses".

BornToRun Mon 15-Sep-08 19:46:53

Aww moondog and there was me thinking you had pretty good musical taste! Of course they will do Killing Moon, have you seen the one outside tonight, now that's a cracker.

BornToRun Mon 15-Sep-08 19:47:35

Oh yes janeite, Mac is still leading the pack, god I love that man!

....Ah, the Bunnymen.

The original band? Will Sergeant and all? Tempting..

....saw them in 1982 (first ever live band) 1983 and 1985.

....just last week I was clearing a drawer and came across an old passport of mine a friend, date stamped 1983. The photo inside reveals a sullen youth, festooned with acne ill-concealed by talc. The unmistakable shape of an Oxfam heavy raincoat collar is clearly visible.

...atop all sits a tousled mass of hair, piled in clear defiance of Mr Newton and his laws. This was believed by me my friend to closely resemble the barnet sported by Ian McCullough. Within a year the glories of black hair dye were discovered and this terrible coiffure was to be supplanted by one equally as bad.

It could, however, have been so much worse

BornToRun Mon 15-Sep-08 20:34:36

Ah, 80s hairdos were amazing. Only Mac and Will from the original band, Les went back to boatbuilding, Pete died, still have a great band though.

Excellent RetiredGoth. grin
Oxfam coat was de rigueur in the 80s eh?
I had one and when my grandmother said 'You can't go out in that, I knew it was perfect.)

...loved my coat.

It went perfectly with the buckle boots and bullet belt....

serenity Mon 15-Sep-08 23:38:45

I didn't even know they were playing sad

I'd have loved to see them - they were one of the bands DH introduced me to when we first started going out. Lots of good memories of listening to Ocean Rain on his parents sofa <<sigh>>

PurpleOne Tue 16-Sep-08 01:11:29

I still have my coat and buckle boots. If I lok hard enough, I'm sure I can find my studded belts and leather waistcoat. grin

Why did nobody tell me EATB were playing? *growls

Have fun BTR envy

Check out Echo Arena Liverpool, playing there in Autumn also they normally always play a gig at the Carling Academy Liverpool near Christmas. They are awesome.

malovitt Tue 16-Sep-08 08:08:54

I'm going tonight.

They're doing the whole of Ocean Rain with a full orchestra.

Can't wait!

BornToRun Tue 16-Sep-08 08:14:03

Yay,malovitt, will wave to you.

BornToRun Thu 18-Sep-08 09:56:31

Well, they were absolutely fantastic! Two sets, starting with Rescue of course then time for a few beers before getting onto Ocean Rain, brilliant!

vonsudenfed Thu 18-Sep-08 10:06:51

Sigh, I wish I could have gone, but we're out in the sticks now.

I had the giant 'Ocean Rain' poster with the picture of the Albert Hall on it on my wall all through the sixth form (and the black overcoat too...) - in fact I may still have the poster stored somewhere, now I come to think about it!

ranting Thu 18-Sep-08 10:14:41

I sooooooo wanted to goenvy, couldn't get time off work. I've always loved them and Will Sergeant was the most underrated guitarist of the 80s.

BornToRun Thu 18-Sep-08 10:36:50

Von, got an original Ocean Rain poster in my kitchen (ebay). We are in the stick too, three hour train journey, hotel etc, cost a fortune but god it was worth it.

Ranting, you are so right about Will, he is a legend.

malovitt Thu 18-Sep-08 20:54:42

Fab night - loved all the old black and white photos on the screen! What a great voice.

My friend got all tearful at one point remembering the good old days when we were teenagers drooling over Mac.

I love the Albert Hall, just wish I'd had a few drinks before I went in - £8 for a pint of Becks!

Poor you - three hour train journey, I was home by midnight.

MrsMcCulloch Fri 19-Sep-08 13:59:20

Malovitt, my dd fell in love with Will and I am no longer BornToRun, Mac and I were married in a secret ceremony later that evening (god I wish).photos were excellent weren't they, huge applause when Pete's was shown. beer was pricey, train journey was long but would do it all again. Can't afford Liverpool so will just have to wait for the new album.
