when they had that bloke that went off

LieselBollyKnickers Sat 09-Aug-08 10:08:36

Do you mean after that bloke went away? I preferred them after he went away. Is he dead?

cocolepew Sat 09-Aug-08 10:21:56

I saw the last concert he ever did.

<<stuffs Ritchie back into cupbooard under stairs>>

JDBfangirl Sat 09-Aug-08 15:50:10

I'm going to see them in less than 3 weeks

<jumps up and down and squees lots grin >

Bronze Sat 09-Aug-08 15:52:03

They believe he's alive don't they. I'm sure they still pay his royalties into a bank account for him.

JDBfangirl Sat 09-Aug-08 16:05:04

Yes, I think you're right Bronze. I think I read an interview where they said they have friends who believe they know where he is. That would be near on impossible these days.

MegBusset Sat 09-Aug-08 16:06:26

I was at that gig too, Coco. Good, wasn't it?

<<remembers being stereotypically crazy 17yo Manics fan>>

<<hastily represses memory>>

God I wish I had been 17 at it blush

I have a manics claim to fame if yuo are interested..

lunavix Sat 09-Aug-08 18:35:10

I loved the manics too. Stereotypical fan in my black eyeliner and white jeans. Have seen them live, met them...

are they not at reading? may see them again!

DoubleBluff Sat 09-Aug-08 18:37:42

When i was in 6th form we used to bunk off to the local macdonalds( for coffee)
The manics used to alwys be up there nursing coffees - this was before they were famous.
Nicky wire used ot sit there in a dress and make up, looking a bit silly realy.
WE used to think they were right wierdos...

DoubleBluff Sat 09-Aug-08 18:43:22

oh well i thought it was interesting anyway..

cocolepew Sat 09-Aug-08 19:04:22

I was interested DB. grin
I was backstage at a Nirvana gig when Kurt ODed.
I may be a scud hmm

DoubleBluff Sat 09-Aug-08 20:22:00

I saw one of there early gigs in Swansea, they were dreadful.
Completely off their faces, one of them think Nicky Wire was so wrecked he fell off the stage.

I am taking DD (6) to their warmup gig in Newport next week, it'll be her second Manics gig. She has been weaned very well! is my Manics site if anyone is interested.

JDBfangirl Tue 12-Aug-08 13:55:06

I'm jealous Lindz... DS is far too young for such things and when he is old enough i suspect they'll have long given up or he'll be into Drum and Bass or something equally as horrific.

LindzDelirium Tue 12-Aug-08 13:57:16

he he! I have force-fed her Manics since she was days old, she is rebelling tho, she's a James Girl whereas I am firmly in the Wire camp!

Iklboo Tue 12-Aug-08 13:58:07

They were great (post Ritchie) supporting the Foo Fighters in June

pop1973 Tue 12-Aug-08 14:02:18

Well I used to live in the road just from the Manics. I have moved recently. Nicky and wife Rachel lived about 2 mins from me in Newport. Always used to see Nicky wearing his sunglasses down to the paper shop and walking his dog. Rachel used to go to local toddler group too.

JDBfangirl Tue 12-Aug-08 14:02:21

:D She can't resist that elfish grin and twinkly eyes!

I spent much of pregnancy listing to TGW so James' voice does have a soothing effect on DS.

DS said guitar the other day. Cool word to have in first 10 words I think!

DoubleBluff Tue 12-Aug-08 14:04:01

Wish i was going to see them in da port but am on holiday. sad
Should be a great gig.

curlywurlycremeegg Tue 12-Aug-08 14:05:27

coclepew, ohh so did I, went down to London for all three gigs and snogged JDB blush

LindzDelirium Tue 12-Aug-08 14:08:49
