Hi there, my dd has just taken her Grade 4 piano exam. Her teacher is very good but his downfall is that he is very pushy on the exam syllabus pieces and keen to crack on with grade 5! However, I just want her to chill over the summer and have fun learning to play some great fun pieces without the pressure. Can anyone recommend me some good stuff around the Grade 4/5 standard. She loves chopin, schubert etc and also the modern pieces they get to play in exams but is not into jazzy stuff.

Many thanks.

The "Raindrop prelude" by Chopin isn't very demanding although in a tricky key (Db)

Also there is a set of Bagtelles by Beethoven which are about Grade 4/5 they're great little pieces.

the courante from suite 5 is fun once you get it up to speed, also the gigue from suite 6 although it's probably a bit above grade 5 level. Not that it matters too much if it's just for fun.

What about Eine Kleine Nachtmusic(sp?)?

Thanks for the suggestions so far - I will check them out. I like the suggestion of the Chopin "Raindrop" prelude - a fab piece of music!

Any other suggestions will be gratefully received!
