I really fancy listening to some, and I don't know enough to be able to look any up.

whatever your favourite is would be brilliant.

Bit obvious perhaps but I find this incredibly moving. It reminds me of my mum.

Too obvious perhaps but I love Gymnopedies III https://open.spotify.com/album/4rskXBmiwzeddEDdTtLLIz

and Elgar's Nimrod.

And Massenet

The minor key is what does it.

Oh they are all brilliant (knew Nimrod already - go me!!). Thank you.

Particularly liked Gymnopedies III and Massesnet.

One of my favourites is Carl Orff's Carmina Burana - a full hour long, about twenty pieces in various styles. It has been used in numerous adverts, and you are bound to know some of it:

If you are prepared to 'work' at listening, anything by Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven symphonies can last you a lifetime!

One of my favourite performers is Nicola Benedetti; she was on TV last week with Wynton Marsalis, rehearsing his new violin concerto.

I love this (though I'm not religious at all) - Schubert's Ave Maria

I came on to say Nimrod but also the Rose Adagio from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty - here is Darcey Bussell dancing it:

And the Swan from Saint Saens' Carnival of the Animals - Yo Yo Ma does it best:

Faure's Requiem, in particular the In Paradisum: m.youtube.com/watch?v=lPca88LPARI

I sing with a big classical choir and it's one of the pieces I struggle to get through without crying. I can also recommend Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, and the Verdi, Mozart and Brahms requiems. Also Britten's War Requiem, which is a bit more 'challenging' but incredibly powerful.

YY to Ave Maria.

Overplayed now (thanks to Ocean's Eleven) but still phenomenal - Debussy, Clair de Lune:

I promise I'll stop in a minute but another hopelessly romantic one is the Barcarolle from Offenbach's Takes of Hoffman:

Ooh, and the Berlioz Requiem! [will shut up about requiems now]

This, by Chopin. One of my favourite pieces of music of all time. At points it actually takes my breath away.
