So, I've been musical all my life, play the fiddle (violin) and love most kinds of music. But my favourite is country. Modern, mainly. Is there anyone else out there with similar tastes? If so, favourite artist? Can you tell I want new artists to listen to? I have a LOT of albums already but looking for others that I don't have!
'Country' covers quite a wide range of music I would have thought.
If you like music where the WORDS are as important as the melody/backing, then my favourites for over thirty years have been Dory Previn (second wife of Andre Previn), and Pete Atkin (and Clive James).
The best representative albums of them are Dory Previn at Carnegie Hall; and Clive James & Pete Atkin live in Australia. (The James/Atkin CDs are probably now ONLY available via Hillside Music, Bristol). But there is plenty of them all on YouTube.
Not country but I ADOE the blues (was born to bb king live at the regal). My favourites are bb king, the Alvin brothers, early Alabama 3, Steppenwolf, buddy guy, Peter green et al. Currently really liking Minnie and the illywhackers and Joanne Taylor Shaw having just been introduced to them by a friend who was lucky enough to go to the Kilkenny roots festival not jealous a all, no
When you say country do you mean American folk/ Country and western music?
If you have any interest in British folk (thinking of fiddly stuff) try Seth Lakeman, Blackbeard's Teaparty, Bellowhead, Rusty Shackle. A couple of these are more recent and a couple are real folk legends: just something for you to dip your toe in case you like it ;-)
