In. Marking place though not much gossip. Only School of Rock coming soon but I think that info has been out there for a while. Very much looking forward to seeing Jade Ewan as Princess a Jasmine after seeing her in In the Heights. She was super.

Dh bought me tickets to see Miss Saigon for xmas. I just hope it lives up to the irigibal production 25 years ago. He is especially looking forward to seeing the current Engineer.

Dd meanwhile loves her Xmas present of a portable Harlequin floor square & is heaving a sigh of relief that she's passec Her Year 9 vocational assessments.

Are there rumours that Hamilton is transferring?

usernamesandgingerbreads DD got a multi-tool and a tool belt for her 18th (from her grandad & unlce)

She says they will be fab when she can't dance any more (@30) & moves backstage!

We want to see Miss Saigon too, & Gypsy live, & kinky boots &....&....&...

Yes, I've heard about Hamilton. We were hoping for Newsies before that, but we will take whatever we can get!
Miss Saigon is very powerful, but funny at points as well. We would like to see it again before it closes (for Aladdin?) lots of good offers at TKTS.

Dh got a really good deal booking direct with the theatre. Shame really as it shows they havnt sold but good for us.

Unfortunatly we can't really risk TKTS as we live too far away & have to book hotels.

I have heard Hamilton is coming to the West End in 2017 with CM.

ds has decided he doesn't want to audition for musical theatre, just watch it. Prefers 'straight acting' however count us in as avid fans x

I think we'll let DC training for straight theatre (or even straight dance) in too!! Wink

Did anyone watch a kinky boots on TV this week? Great film. We just kept shouting 'SONG' at the appropriate moments. The stage show sticks very closely to the film.

Thank you! Love watching the professionals do their stuff .ds says he couldn't do the same thing every day, but we saw Charlie recently and loved it.

Loving the tool belt. One of my dc is going straight for tech when they are old enough. Funnily enough lots of dressers I know are ex on stage people or do dressing inbetween shows.

It goes round her twice!! She also got 5 colours of electrical tape too!

She's done 2 summers as backstage & her uncle is a stage carpenter - he thinks she will be one too, but she says she'd rather be ASM

She also did the summer school at Rose Bruford

We are desperately waiting here to turn 14 for the summer schools!

Our local theatre schools take from 8 & allow some to be involved backstage

Rose Bruford is18 but she snuck in because she had done some already - on the actual course she had more experience than most

Dd is interested and n sound & lighting too.

We need to make summer school decisions. Her grandparents have offered to contribute to one next year. Previously she has gone for classical ballet summer schools becsuse that was what she needed to work on & there is one she loved last year that she'd like to do again.

However she thinks she ought to go for a more MT one to start checking out colleges she might like to apply to at 16 or 18.

We are lucky as dc state school is a specialist art and drama school. They have a really decent drama studio with full on light and sound sets and do lamda qualifications both on stage and backstage.

BGM - DD says she can help you with that

I haven't actually seen many shows as working backstage didn't get the time to! Last one I saw was Les Mis, I can't Sing before that (which dc loved) Lion King,Billy, Phantom, Starlight (which I hated with the tiny stage and 3d screens) saw it years ago in London on the proper track that went round the seating.

DD has worked WSS (totally in love), Chuckle Brothers (adored), Jethro (lovely old grandfather type), Jim Davidson (very polite), lots of other comedians, a few tribute acts & most memorably a male strip show - which got me a formal apology from the stage manager as they weren't supposed to take it all off!!
