it's been on my bucket list for years and i finally got round to sorting it after i was afraid to sing at DD's school carol concert even though i really really wanted to.
So today went ok it seems and i'm not tone deaf after all Smile.
I'm starting with "I dreamed a dream" from Les Mis purely because I love it and know it quite well. I'm now trying to find another song to practice with (practicing breathing and relaxing.)
I love all the show songs but cannot for the life of me think of one to use.

Any ideas please? Not too difficult. Easy places for breathing a must!

Well done mckenzie - singing is so good for you! Can you tell me your range and then I might be able to suggest some songs that would suit your voice :)

My range? That sounds like a technical term Smile
No idea I'm afraid although 'I dreamed a dream' with the you tube karaoke accompaniment seemed to suit me.

I'd love to be able to sing well, my song would be Maybe This Time from Cabaret.

In my head I'm Liza Grin

mckenzie,

I want singing lessons, how did you find your teacher?

Oh I would love to be able to sing.
Dd sings, and has had a fab teacher for 10 years who has encouraged her, and makes lessons such fun. She's like a big sister to her.

I fancy learning the guitar.

If I sang, a bit of Liza would be good or The man that got away by her mum Grin

Thank you everyone for your encouragement.
HarlotOTara, I went on to a local community website that we have around here and asked for recommendations.

Memory from Cats would be my choice.

thanks HC. I plan on having a practice session at home this afternoon when the DCs are otherwise engaged so i'll check them out then. DD has just taught me one that she uses at school "red lorry, yellow lorry" and apparently I HAVE to do that one Smile

Just had a thought though, the weather is quite nice here and people might have their windows open. Oh well!

DCs both have friends over and even though I've shut myself in the front room, i can't relax enough to sing properly as I'm worried they can hear me.
how daft Sad

I understand that. I can't play the piano with other people around (except DC - otherwise I'll never get to play!) It's a private thing.
