Would anyone like to talk about the new Daft Punk album?

I'm a Daft Punk fan. I saw them at Glastonbury the year that Homework was released and I've liked almost everything they've done since.

A LOT of journo-love for the album in the last couple of months made me worry that the album wouldn't live up to the hype and when 'Get Lucky' was put onto YouTube, my heart sank.

However, now I've listened to the LP (once a day every day this week!) and realised that in the context of the album, 'Get Lucky' completely works, I'm really happy that the album is getting the attention it deserves. So much attention to detail and composition, I think it's the first album I've fallen in love with since Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

Anyone else like it / hate it?

Have you seen Peter Serafinowicz's video to Get Lucky? It's weird, but good!

I think it isn't out here properly till Monday, so unless people are is Oz, or working on it, they're unlikely to have heard it yet.

I have now! I don't know who Peter S is but I like his work.
I love DP - not heard new album yet. Lots of muso types slagging it off on FB though!

I would like to talk about how much I dislike it.

I used to be a fan and I am a big fan of French electronic music in general but I just can't like it.

Maybe it's a sign, as its so popular, that i don't share music taste with very many people!

I'm excited! Have it pre-ordered ready for its release here on Tuesday. I enjoy hearing "Get Lucky" on the radio, but I'm looking forward to hearing them kick it up a notch on the album.

I've not heard the new album yet, but really don't like Get Lucky (I am amazed it has been no 1 for a month). It's so disappointing. Tell me the rest of the album is better!

Ahhh it's out on Tuesday! Well I'm not buying it on the basis of Get Lucky, unless you tell me otherwise. Alive 2007 is my favourite album but it's essentially a live greatest hits, so there's no surprise there.

Kirk, the reason I didn't like Get Lucky when i heard it on its' own, was because the track was just one loop, over and over, the sort of bland track that gets played to death in house clubs in the summer, but it's on the album about two thirds of the way in and the loop is actually a refrain that can be heard in the tracks building up to Get Lucky and it kind of works as a movement of a symphony (sorry to be wanky about it, but can't think of any other way of describing it).

The fawning over the album by some journalists is ridiculous eg Lauren Laverne saying a particular track moved her to tears, but I think it is a really good concept album. Listening to it again at the moment.

I've only heard Get Lucky. The first 21/2 minutes sounds like Chic, which is not surprising given Nile Rodgers involvement, then it improves and actually sounds like Daft Punk.

I like Get Lucky, but it does get distracting when all I can think about is how obvious it is that Nile Rodgers is playing on it. And I was only a very small child in his heyday. I also can't believe that Pharrell Williams is 40. This post doesn't really have much to do with Daft Punk, does it?

Bought it for dp yesterday, he's been listening to it in his van all day and think has had some kind of religious experience.
